Canoe Cove
Low bank waterfront gives you the water and takes away the setback. The house sits a few steps above the tideline behind a poured seawall, on the point where Canoe Cove opens to the channel, so the principal rooms look two ways at once. Rock, arbutus and second-growth fir were kept and built around. Inside, honed porcelain, walnut and a single book-matched marble run the length of the plan. At low water the shelf in front of the lawn comes up bare, and the room is level with it.
